19.6S Ecclestone172/7
Run OUT. OUT! Run Out. Ashleigh Gardner to Sophie Ecclestone. Yorker, driving, Played to mid on for 1 run, by Healy, by Kerr. What a remarkable way to end the WBBL|11 regular season! The Sixers survive a massive comeback from the Strikers to win by 1 run and book their ticket to the finals. In the first innings, Ellyse Perry put on another North Sydney Oval masterclass, compiling 111 from 71 balls with 16 fours and 3 sixes. She was the eventual Player of the Match, well-supported by Sophia Dunkley (54) in a 141-run opening partnership that got the Sixers off to a flyer, later finishing with a total of 173. When the Strikers were 5/90 from 14 overs in response, there was very little hope left for their season. However, Bridget Patterson (65 off 35 balls) used the Power Surge as a launchpad to get them within 18 runs with one over to go. She found the boundary with the first three balls but was helpless from the non-striker's end as Ashleigh Gardner held her nerve to complete the match-winning run out on the last ball. The Sixers will now host the winner of The Knockout for a spot in The Final against the Hobart Hurricanes.
